The Scarab is meant to shield the wearer...not from a malevolent outside source but from our own negative thoughts. The ones that say, “you can’t do it” or something similar and prevent us from using our energy to build more productive and positive aspects of our lives. The horseshoe is also a symbol of protection, particularly valued for the properties of the metal it's made with, iron, that withstands the fires of adversity & negativity.
